PEQUANNOCK, NJ (November 2, 2005) - In just its third year of existence, the Pequannock Lacrosse Club announced today that it has reached an agreement with the Pequannock Township Board of Education to create high school junior varsity lacrosse programs for both boys and girl beginning in the spring of 2006.

Under the terms of the agreement, the Pequannock Lacrosse Club, a non-profit corporation, will provide the financial backing, while the high school athletic staff will develop, implement, and coach the lacrosse teams. The combined cost for both programs is estimated at $20,000.

“This is a major milestone for Pequannock’s growing lacrosse community,” said Michael Cherenson, president of the Pequannock Lacrosse Club. “This agreement underscores the passion of our lacrosse families and highlights how eager the board of education is to provide opportunities to its students.”

To help underwrite the program’s expenses, the Pequannock Lacrosse Club has launched an aggressive fundraising drive. This effort includes a Casino Night scheduled for Friday, November 18, at the Wayne Manor, as well as a memorial plaque at the high school that will recognize the Founding Families and Friends of Pequannock High School Lacrosse who contribute $100 or more. Additional information on fundraising activities is available by calling 973-981-8945 or 973-224-0591

While the program continues to expand at the high school level, Pequannock Lacrosse has also announced its registration dates for the spring season for boys and girls in grades one through eight, along with a special indoor winter program for boys grades three through eight. Registration for all non-high school programs will be held on Wednesday, November 16 and Wednesday, December 14, from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the First Reformed Church, Newark-Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains.
